Alicante Shopping

Markets

Each year Alicante plays host to the Mercado Medieval which sees an array of medieval entertainment, people in medieval costumes and medieval handicrafts. This is one of Alicante’s marketing highlights and is popular among locals and tourists alike. A more typical market is the Central Market which sells many items, such as fish, fruit, flowers and so on.

El Corte Ingles

El Corte Ingles is Spain’s largest department store chain and as can be imagined sells anything and everything that may be needed during a stay in the city.

Handicrafts

Alicante is well-known for its handicrafts, whether it be ceramics, bags, wicker baskets, rugs, botijo jugs, wines and mosaics.

El Barrio

In and around Alicante’s Old Town area there are many small shops dotted along the small alleyways and winding streets. Other main shopping streets in the city are Rambla de Méndez Núñez and Avenida Maisonnave.
