Las Medulas really is a spectacular landscape; it is hilly with unusual red rocks that fill the area. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and was a Roman gold mining centre in former years. To aid the mining procedure more than seven parallel aqueducts were built in order to transport the necessary water around.
