Javier Castle dates back as far as the 10th century but has been a museum since 1986 after a period of restoration. In years gone by it has been home to a number of big names in the history of Navarre while it also features various pieces of art and historical documents. It is certainly impressive in appearance and is a popular destination to visit.
Fiesta de San Fermin

The Fiesta de San Fermin runs from the 7th until the 14th of July and is an extremely popular draw for people to Pamplona each year. Its showcase event is ‘the running of the bulls’ which sees young men run in front of bulls at 8am each morning to lead them up to the bullring and usually lasts no longer than a couple of minutes unless the bulls decide to take a different course.

The impressive Pamplona Cathedral is a Roman Catholic place of worship which took the place of a Romanesque building in the 15th century. The architecture is a mixture of neoclassical and baroque, while the two Gothic cloisters are among the best parts of the structure to view.

The Museum of Navarre has been open to the public since 1956 and takes up its position in the old part of the city in a former hospital. The building was originally built in the 16th century and displays a number of exhibits from the region’s past. It also features guided tours, lectures, films and other educational activities.
