La Seu CathedralLa Seu Cathedral
Carrer Palau Reial

Palma’s impressive Roman Catholic cathedral exudes grandeur with its ornate and elaborate design coupled with its dominating size. Building began on the structure in 1230 after James I of Aragon conquered the land, although the work wasn’t completed for the best part of 400 years. Like with so many of Spain’s cathedrals La Seu was symbolically built on the remains of a former mosque. The cathedral’s dimensions cover 121 metres in length and 55 metres in width, while the highest point of the bell tower reaches 52 metres into the sky.
