La Albufera Nature Park
Valencia
La Albufera Nature Park is south of Valencia just inland from the sea. La Albufera is a freshwater lagoon and includes an information centre at Racó de l'Olla. Many birds stay in the park on their migratory travels while there are three canals which go from the lagoon to nearby wetlands and the sea. There is also an area of dunes and pine forests next to the park called the Devesa del Saler.
Palmeral of Elche

The Palmeral of Elche is an orchard of more than 200,000 trees making it Europe’s largest collection of palm trees. It was made a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2000 and covers 3.5 square kilometres. It is thought that, in years gone by, it covered an area twice that of today.
Mystery Play of Elx

Commemorating the supposed Assumption of Mary this play dates back to the Middle Ages and is performed on the 14th and 15th of August each year. In some circles it is said to be Europe’s oldest dramatic liturgy and is performed in an ancient Catalan dialect. The play is performed in the 17th century Church of Santa Maria and marks a busy time of the year for Elche.

The Valencian community has more than 500 kilometres of coastline with numerous sandy beaches and beautiful resorts, including Benidorm, Valencia and Alicante.
